Tim’s eCommerce journey took a pivotal turn during a holiday trip abroad. Amidst his travels, he noticed a niche that was glaringly underserved: mouth tape and nose strips. His experience and market analysis revealed a great opportunity in this seemingly overlooked category. Backed by his SEO expertise, Tim saw a gap in the market ripe for the taking on Amazon. Drawing on his background in SEO, he recognised the potential of his products through keyword research and search traffic analysis. With resources like Seller University at his fingertips, signing up to Amazon was a straightforward process. Tim has found it an easy process being able to obtain GS1 barcodes from GS1 Australia and Tim is currently in the process of getting his brand name trademarked using Amazon IP Accelerator to support him.

Adopting Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)

One of Tim’s key strategies was leveraging Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA). By shipping products to Amazon’s FCs, he streamlined order fulfilment and customer service. Despite the complexities of managing inventory from overseas, FBA’s efficiency played a crucial role in his business’s success. Tim’s experience underscores the importance of FBA in helping to scale and manage a successful Amazon store.

Prime Day was a game-changer for Tim. Leveraging Amazon’s promotional advertising tools, Tim highlighted the need for strategic inventory management and preparation for peak shopping seasons. His advice to other sellers was to ensure they have enough inventory on hand as he felt worried at the time he’d run out of stock quickly and would need to send an emergency shipment.

With over $100,000 in ordered product sales on Amazon since launching in February 2024, Tim is already working on expanding his product line and selling internationally, including selling his products in the United States. Tim reflected on his experience launching in the Amazon store in Australia, explaining that if he had to do it again he would have priced his products more strategically to ensure they were more competitive in the Amazon Store.
