Amazon jargon:
Referral fees
All sellers (regardless of plan type) pay a referral fee on each product sold. For all products, Amazon deducts the applicable referral fee percentage calculated on the total sales price. The total sales price is the total amount paid by the buyer, including delivery and any gift wrapping charges. There is no minimum or maximum referral fee. Referral fees are in addition to selling plan fees.
FEES
Category Referral Fees

How often will I be charged online seller fees?
This depends on whether you choose to sell with an Individual plan, which applies per item sold, or a Professional selling plan which has a monthly fee. The appropriate referral fee will apply each time you sell a product. Other costs such as advertising or storage costs will apply as these are incurred.
How do you handle sales tax and other taxes?
Sales tax will depend on whether you’re selling products within Australia or internationally. Australian GST applies to most items sold on Amazon.com.au and we will apply GST if it is relevant to the sale. If you’re selling products in Australia, it’s important to familiarise yourself with any obligations regarding GST.
Can I negotiate my online seller fees?
We’ve priced our selling services and optional programs so that sellers at every level can enjoy the benefits of selling on Amazon Australia. We aim to keep our fees as seller-friendly as possible to help you build and grow your business. It’s a good idea to factor in all costs of selling, fulfilment and customer service when you’re determining your profit margins.
How do you handle chargebacks and payment disputes?
This will depend on whether you’re using Fulfilment by Amazon or Fulfilment by Seller. If the product is being fulfilled by Amazon, we’ll manage refunds, returns and disputes on your behalf
Does Amazon charge additional fees for international sales?
One of the many advantages of selling on Amazon is that you can choose to make the most of our global logistics network and share your products with customers around the world through Global Selling. Your Amazon seller fees when selling internationally will depend on the regions you intend to sell in. Head on over to our merging accounts article to learn more about pricing.
